There's an ancient internet proverb that goes, “**** around and find out.” One woman was dealt swift consequences after telling the neighborhood tamales vendor to “Go back to Mexico.” She f’d around and a local activist group protecting food vendors made sure she found out.

The original video was posted by @enamoradoalex_ on Instagram where a woman confronted Antonio, the local tamales guy, telling him to not sell in front of her house.

“Go back to Mexico and [sell without a license]. You are not in Mexico, You are in the United States,” she says in Spanish.

Unexpectedly for “Racist Sandra” (as she was then dubbed), activists crowded her home later that night. The group goes around Long Beach, California protecting and defending street vendors from harassment and abuse. Even “Racist Sandra’s” neighbors joined the activists to complain about her dogs barking constantly.

Protesters gathered by her fence, chanted for nearly an hour until she came out and faced the crowd. After a back-and-forth with the protestors, the woman apologized to Antonio for her rude comments.

@enamoradobackup Adrian ran and hid. Sandra actually showed her face to hundreds of people. In time we will see. Thank you to every single one of you that came out, too many to tag but just know we appreciate every single one of you. #ProtectStreetVendors ♬ original sound - Enamorado

“We’ve been doing this for a long time. It takes a lot for people like her to come out and talk to us. And a lot of them are men—a lot of white men, they hide in their house and they call the cops. So we gotta give it up for her for actually coming out and showing her face,” says activist Edin Alexander Enamorado through a megaphone to the rest of the protestors.

Antonio is back to serving that block and “Racist Sandra” is back to being just Sandra with the loud dogs in her neighborhood. All is well in the universe again.
