After penning character letters ahead of Danny Masterson’s sentencing for rape (a sentence that carried 30 years in prison), Ashton Kutcher has found himself in the spotlight and for some not-great reasons. Old video interviews of the pair have resurfaced online, that have undermined their claim that Masterson was a person of “exceptional character.”

Kutcher and Kunis appeared on The Rosie O’Donnell Show back in April 2002 and discussed (among other things) how young Kunis was at the start of the show. The showrunners were looking for 18-year-olds to play the teenage primadonna, Jackie but Kunis who was 14, lied about her age in the audition process. The showrunners found out about Kunis’ age after reading a set teacher requirement in her contract for the show and decided to keep her on opposite a 19-year-old Kutcher.

“So I had never kissed a guy and he—you know Ashton’s attractive and I was a 14-year-old little girl and I was extremely scared for my life,” Kunis tells O’Donnell as she recounts her first kiss. “He was very nice about it…so I was like ok. Then Danny goes to him, [he] goes ‘I’ll give you $10 if you french kiss her. He wanted you to stick you[r] tongue in my mouth.’”

In his defense, Kutcher says the “little side bet” kiss wasn’t Kunis’ first kiss and that they were portraying a couple.

“So Danny like bets 20 bucks that I wouldn’t [use tongue] so I’m like ‘Yeah sure what’s the deal ya know?’” he explains.

“And the cops showed up and you got arrested, immediately” joked O’Donnell, finishing the story unknowingly touching on the cosmic irony that one day would find the man behind this bet, behind bars.
