Everybody already knows this, but people get up to some weird stuff in hotel rooms. For example, you absolutely do not want to watch footage of people checking hotel rooms using a black light unless you plan on never staying in one ever again, not to mention the weird urban legends about people cleaning their underwear in hotel coffee makers.

@barfly7777 #Splice I wanted to try derp frying a whole chicken instead of individual pieces. I may not be considered a fried chicken purist because I do enjoy using breadcrumbs or Panko instead of just seasoned flour. But for a longer fry like a whole chicken, I wanted to keep the risk of smoke to a minimum. As usual, No Hotels Were Harmed in the making of my vids, this is for amusement purposes only. #w#wholefriedchickenf#friedchickenc#chickenfryh#howtocooki#innovativef#foodiesoftiktokh#hotelhackh#hotelcookingshowa#applejuiceprank ♬ Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band

One TikToker might have all of that beat, however, having taken it upon himself to deep fry an entire chicken in a hotel bathroom. He starts by marinating it in the sink before using the bathroom trash can, which has been filled with oil and placed on top of a hot plate for deep-frying purposes. He closes out the video by eating the chicken, which absolutely still looks pink in parts, while lounging in bed. Christ almighty.

People were understandably disturbed. One commented, “I would have to be 6 years into a zombie apocalypse before I ate anything made in a bathroom,” while others commented that they hoped he left the maids a nice tip after conducting his culinary experiment.

This isn’t his only video like this; he has an entire TikTok account full of videos of recipes he’s created in hotel bathrooms, although his bio states, “No hotel has been harmed or is in risk of being harmed. This is creative filming,” which hopefully means he’s doing all of this at home and his bathroom just looks exactly like a hotel bathroom.

@adamteertok #duet with @Barfly #splice Not a hitel hack. This is a hack for getting sick quick, fast, and in a hurry. #hotel #badadvice #codered #panic #gonnavomit #bad ♬ Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band

In addition to commenters, current and former hotel employees are also troubled by these videos. One hotel general manager shared his blind reaction to the chicken video, pointing out that hotel bathroom trash cans do not get cleaned often enough to justify using them to deep fry a chicken. In his caption, he wrote, “Not a hotel hack. This is a hack for getting sick quick, fast, and in a hurry.”

@ltmotel #stitch w/ @Barfly cant keep getting away with this #motelhell #cooking ♬ original sound - Brian The Motel Guy

Another hotel employee, Brian the Motel Guy, got straight to the point, stitching the video and pointing to a sign in his own motel that says, “No cooking, no hot plates, no microwaves, no appliances allowed in rooms,” which is a fairly universal rule in hotels.

I know that room service can be prohibitively expensive, but surely there are better solutions than this. As a TikTok commenter suggested, would it not be easier to pick up a rotisserie chicken from the deli? Ask the concierge where the nearest McDonald’s is? DoorDash yourself some KFC? Even starving would be better than this.
