Have you ever envied your pet’s life of luxury? They just get to sleep all day, run around a bit, go outside, play fetch, eat, **** and sleep some more. They’re truly living the dream.
One TikToker has decided to make that dream a reality, turning his bedroom into a human-sized hamster cage. @filousmusic started sharing videos of his new digs about a week ago, and they’re incredibly impressive.

The room consists of a giant cage, bedding, a large carrot toy, and naturally, a human-sized hamster wheel. Filous, an Austrian music producer whose real name is Matthias Oldofredi, also has a guitar inside his cage, a concession to his humanity that would be wasted on an actual hamster.

Oldofredi has even shared videos of him running on the wheel, although he lacks the grace and speed of an actual hamster. The metal wheel was designed by Austrian artist Martin Grandits. If Oldofredi were an actual hamster, however, the wheel wouldn’t be particularly safe for him — experts agree that plastic wheels are the safest option.

In another video, Oldofredi shares his morning routine in the hamster cage, which consists of drinking coffee, reading the newspaper and playing the guitar, all things that hamsters cannot do, leading me to believe that he is not truly committed to the hamster lifestyle. He should at least be doing calisthenics to the Hamsterdance Song every day for realism.
While it’s fun to think that this is just some eccentric guy being eccentric, as you may have guessed, the hamster cage was actually created for a song Oldofredi produced with Golden Vessel, titled “I Like Where We’re Going.” It was released in late July, followed by the music video, featuring the hamster-cage set, a day later. As demonstrated in the video, the cage can hold as many as two humans, which is nice, since humans can get lonely and depressed if they spend too much time alone.
The song is pretty decent, but as is the way of the internet, everyone is far more interested in Oldofredi’s “Day in My Life in a Hamster Cage” videos and not his actual art. Sorry dude.
