Collier Gwin, the owner of the San Francisco art gallery Foster-Gwin Art & Antiques, is facing backlash after video of him spraying a homeless woman in the face with a hose went viral on Twitter. Gwin, who later spoke with the San Francisco Chronicle didn't apologize for his actions but instead doubled down on them.

Upon seeing the video, many people were understandably disturbed.

The San Fransisco Chronicle reporters spoke to Gwin, who attempted to justify his actions.

According to Gwin, he tried to have the woman removed by social services multiple times and only turned to the hose as a last resort.

The proper way to handle homelessness has been a controversial subject in many major cities, but losing our compassion for other human beings should never be the answer.
