A 16-year-old from Cheshire, Luke Littler, has taken the internet by storm, owing not only to his amazing darts skills — he recently made it to the final of the World Darts Championships — but because of his relationship with Eloise Milburn, who is five years his senior and whom he met while playing FIFA on Xbox.

Since Littler rapidly rose to fame online following his success at the World Darts Championships, his relationship has become the subject of many memes but even more concern, with many wondering why a 21-year-old would even be interested in a 16-year-old boy.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Milburn’s mother said that she and her husband Phil are incredibly angry about the things people are saying: “Eloise has been accused of all sorts and that she’s only with Luke because of his money and fame. But that’s a total pack of lies and disgusting. She’s not with him for any of these reasons. She does’'t care about his money or his fame, she’s with him because she likes him. It’s as simple as that.”

As for Littler, he told Sky News that he and Eloise were going to “stick together, whether anyone likes it or not.”

Littler has also become the subject of memes because many people feel he looks significantly older than his 16 years, with one Twitter user joking, “He’s a divorced single father at 42 who loves his kids and does darts in his free time,” while another said, “No wonder you can start drinking beer early over there. Built biologically diff. ”

Despite making it all the way to the finals of the World Darts Championships, Littler unfortunately lost to 28-year-old Luke Humphries, prompting many to wonder why so many successful darts players are named Luke. It’s undoubtedly one of the greatest mysteries of our time, up there with the question of why a woman in her twenties would be interested in someone who can’t legally drink, drive or vote.
