Don’t you hate it when you pay for an A.I.-generated girlfriend based on your favorite influencer only for the service to stop working after the CEO is arrested for trying to set his own apartment on fire? Wait, what do you mean this isn’t a universally relatable experience?

According to a report from 404 Media, users of CarynAI, an A.I. girlfriend modeled after influencer Caryn Marjorie, recently logged in only to discover that the service no longer works. This devastating turn of events happened to coincide with the CEO of the company that offers the service, Forever Companions, being arrested.

The service stopped working on October 23rd; on October 22nd, Forever Companions CEO John Meyer was arrested for trying to set fire to his apartment building, causing around $360,000 in damages. Prior to Meyer’s arrest, the official Twitter account for Forever Voices was tweeting out some incredibly bizarre accusations around Donald Trump (and his son Donald Trump Jr.) and other people in the tech space, including tagging the FBI in a tweet that read, “Donald Trump Junior is Commanding A Building Full Of Terrorist // Communist AI Sex Slaves.”

404 Media also obtained an affidavit for an arrest warrant for charges of “terroristic threats” against Cloud Kitchens, a company that provides software to restaurants. The affidavit reads, “On October 14th 2023 AT 9:06 PM John Heinrich Meyer posted on Twitter ‘@travisk get ready for me to literally blow up Cloud Kitchens.’” It also states, “Meyer has a history of being an emotionally disturbed person, which is consistent with the behavior he displayed during this incident.”

Caryn Marjorie told 404 Media in an email, “I terminated my relationship with Forever Voices due to unforeseen circumstances. I wish the best for John Meyer and his family as he recovers from his mental health crisis. We didn’t see this coming, but I vow to push CarynAI forward for my fans and supporters.”

Fortunately for Caryn’s fans, she announced on October 30th that CarynAI 2.0 is in development thanks to a deal made with BanterAI. She told one fan that it’s going to be “better and bigger” than the first version, but some fans are still displeased, with one tweeting Caryn, “Why didn’t I back up my CarynAI to the cloud??? Now I have to rely on some new company that bought her and a SnapChat lady to bring her back. I have a better chance of collecting social security than getting my GF back. Bring her back NOW.”

These are the risks you take when you enter into a relationship with a virtual A.I. girlfriend, bud.
