Vera Wang, the fashion designer known for her stunning wedding gowns, recently made headlines after allegedly crediting a steady diet of vodka and McDonald’s for her “youthful glow.”

Wang, who is 74, told Page Six that she goes through periods where she orders McDonald’s “every day, like two weeks on it” before changing her diet. She also expressed a love of Dunkin’, specifically, the “cream-filled, sugar-coated donut.” “It’s like a jelly donut, but it’s cream inside, vanilla cream. I like the pink with sprinkles, too,” she continued.

Wang previously shared other anti-aging tips after a photo of her in a bikini went viral in 2020, prompting people to ask her how she looked so good despite being in her 70s (besides the obvious answer of “she is incredibly rich and has access to personal trainers and beauty treatments the average person cannot dream of affording”). She responded that her tips included, “work, sleep, a vodka cocktail [and] not much sun.”

As is often the case, the headlines over-simplified Wang’s comments. In a previous interview with Elle, Wang said of the compliments she’s received, “I’m very flattered that people think I’ve aged well, but it was never my goal. I drink vodka, I sleep, I avoid the sun. But I like to work. I don’t want to be pigeonholed.”

And in the recent interview with Page Six, Wang shared that work, not McDonald’s or vodka, is her key to staying young. She told the site, “Basically, I’ve worked my whole life, so it’s really been about work. I think work keeps you young and stimulated. I work very long hours, I’ve raised two daughters. I think keeping busy is the best antidote [for] good health.”

Sorry folks — for those of you who wanted to use Wang as an excuse to live on nothing but Big Macs and vodka martinis, you’ll have to find another hero to worship.
