The story *did* seem unlikely.

A former Air Force intelligence officer has admitted that, no, her estranged astronaut wife *didn’t* actually access her bank account from the International Space Station.

I know, this whole thing seems pretty crazy, but stick with us here. According to CNBC, a woman named Summer Worden was married to a woman named Anne McClain. While they were in the middle of a divorce, McClain went to space.

During this time, Worden claims that McClain committed identity theft by illegally accessing her bank account. Should we remind you that McClain was in space at the time?

Setting aside the obvious “how are you going to get a 2FA text in orbit” problem, the whole story really just didn’t hold water. Consequently, Worden pleaded guilty to lying to a federal agent about what happened — confirming that, to our knowledge, “bank fraud in space” is still an unexplored frontier.

Who’s going to be the first to crack it??
