I got a letter in the mail today, suprisingly fast. This is what it said:

Dear Mr. G:

Thank you for submitting "An Afternoon in Peniel," but I'm going to pass on it. There's nice writing here, but this story didn't quite work for me, I'm afraid. Good luck to you with this one, and thanks again for sending it our way.

Well, my short story didn't get published, which, well, means it won't ever be. I actually wrote the piece specifically for this publication: I have emotional investment in the magazine. So that's that, I suppose.
