The Truth

Thanks Dangle.  I spent better part of my weekend sifting through Darryl Jewett's list of "amazing" and "interesting" statements, aka completely unorganized, but ironically numbered, feminist-hate vomit.
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/blogs/view/84403720/#

You say it took him 8 years of research to come to these many conclusions.  I don't have that kind of time, but I did have all day to sit and write a response to a good majority of the points Jewett listed.

I found this difficult because of how many statistics and correlations he made, along with vague and misused sources which caused me to look elsewhere for information.  I felt like I was looking up the legal validity to every term in an Itunes user agreement.  Just because I couldn't google it, doesn't necessarily mean I dispute it. I did dispute a lot, but in some cases I had to use other means than the ones the author provided.

As someone who has many "feminist" ideologies, you may say I'm biased.  For this, I'm taking that side, but maybe not to the same degree as Darryl took to his.  I've never actually encountered an article such as his, so the first thing I did was look into the source.

0/58 - Darryl Jewett is, according to what he makes public, (https://www.facebook.com/darryl.jewett.3?fref=nf), is an impressionist artist, and proud member of many anti-feminist, pro-male superiority groups. I say male superiority, because it's not just masculinist ideas he supports, he also sticks his nose in the business of women's health and women rights that do not impede on the rights of men as a gender.  Did I say he was biased?  He, especially in his list, seems to deny women of all credibility surrounding things such as domestic abuse, sexual assault, and for some reason, any recognition of being mentally and physically able to be equal to men in most aspects of society - even parenting.

1/58 - Feminism is by common definition : "a collection of movements and ideologies which share a common stated aim: to define, establish, and defend equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminism).   To believe Darryl would be to assume that feminist are on an "eye for an eye" approach to revenge for men who enslaved, impoverished and socially dominated women throughout history, and to this day.

2/58 - If/when Mr. Jewett responds to my friend request on facebook, I plan to ask him where all of his sources for this A to P list of bullshit are.  It's ridiculous to apply these specific accusations to every man and woman participant since the term "feminist" was coined in 1837.

3/58 - Oh the hypocrisy!  All this guy does is blame culture and society for the problems he and his fellow man face.  Does he not know what culture is?  Yes, women can finally vote.  But it's not a light switch.  Just because we have a voice doesn't mean we're heard.  Men have had the right to vote far longer than women have - how's that working out?

4/58 - I will not be ignorant enough to say that no women have ever made false allegations against men.  Now, if there is proof that all of these organisations are guilty of encouraging women to do these things, I'm glad they were caught.  The reason I do not believe in the death penalty is because I know the system is flawed, and there is room for wrongful convictions.  Most wrongful convictions are caused by false witness testimony.  Even witnesses with no reason to lie, and with real conviction, can be wrong. There are many studies that demonstrate that extreme stress and trauma has an effect on memory.  I'm not implying that women don't know they're false, when they're wrong. I'm saying there are many reasons besides intent, that could land an innocent person in jail.  I believe in the innocence project (mentioned in this article) and organizations like it.  I believe there should be more done to fix the system, focusing on ensuring due process for all suspected criminals.

5/58 - Responsible how? We're the perpetrators, or the provokers?  I'll leave that one alone for now, because it's mentioned again later on.   The fact to be taken from this is the real statistic that women generally serve less time for the same crime as men do, for some types of crime. I intend to look into the causes of this, however I believe it stems further back in history than the feminist movement.  As women have been statistically less likely to be violent criminals than men are.  I believe these outside factors greatly outweigh an intentional feminist objective.

6/58 - Is this an explanation for sexual harassment by men against women?

7/58 - Nobody is saying that mothers lose custody of their children in divorce/separation disputes more than fathers do.   Mothers are far more likely to gain custody in all custody agreements - even those settled out of court and without legal dispute.  (http://www.census.gov/prod/2013pubs/p60-246.pdf) However, try as I might, I cannot find statistics that show how many custody battles involve allegations of abuse, AND how many of those are false allegations. The sources I found state that false child abuse allegations occur between 1 and 30 percent of custody battles involving abuse allegations. (http://www.ipt-forensics.com/journal/volume2/j2_3_1.htm) (http://boycottdivorcecorp.weebly.com/the-truth-about-false-allegations.html).   Proving that abuse has taken place is sometimes very difficult, so it makes sense that these estimations are so different.

8/58 - I can't find anything that confirms or debunks this statement.  I'm wondering if the author assumes that all alimony and child support settlements where the woman, not the man, is awarded, are fraud?  In the sources I posted in 7/58 will show what percentage of women are given child support compared to men.  It also shows that almost 40 percent of child support goes unpaid.  Who's defrauding who?

9/58 - Men "are allowed to vote presently, have agency and must be held responsible and accountable for their choices so don't blame laws"  If you do not support laws that improve the situation for women who suffer abuse - vote against it.

10/58 - Not all fathers are forcibly taken from their children.  Only a percentage of divorcees with children have custody battles. Furthermore  not all mothers are awarded custody in custody battles.

11/58 - This one bothers me... actually all of the ones that downplay the statistics that involve violence against women, disturb me.  Yes, some people are wrongfully convicted of crimes, and right now innocent people are in jail, or sitting on death row, for things they didn't do (not just crimes against women).   I think this is horrible, and that the system needs to change to ensure due process.   What I think is more horrible is what happened to a friend of mine.   Her husband of 15 years stabbed her approximately 92 times.  I say approximately because there were stab wounds inside of other stab wounds and the doctors were unable to count them all.  Her husband then called police, admitted to the crime, and tried to take his own life before they showed up.  Fortunately both lived.  He's in jail now, and will never get out.   Another girl I know was not so fortunate.  She was beaten to death with a hammer, and dumped on the side of the road. (1 year after her boyfriend killed her newborn infant) It was later found that her assailant allegedly killed 5 other women.  A family member of his - a man he confessed to, was the one who reported him to police.   You would think their families are fighting to end violence against women, by joining community groups.  They haven't.  They're just trying to pick up the pieces of their broken lives and move on.

12/58 - I googled this quote hoping to learn why Benjamin Franklin said those words, but all I found were a bunch of links to sites where this anti-feminist list was posted.  No worries though - I never really cared what Mr. Franklin had to say about women some 200 years ago.

13/58 - Everything but breast cancer eh?  I guess that includes childbirth, ovarian cancer, just to name two?    Did you know the signs of a heart attack are different in men and women?  No? That's ok... neither did science until recently.  Most clinical studies were conducted on men, so the signs they were telling us all to look out for, were actually not the only signs women should be aware of.  I wonder how many women died because of this lag in medical progress?

14/58 - The heart and stroke foundation - Canada's leading foundation on cardiovascular disease, in conjunction with Statistics Canada , has found that in 2008 CD accounted for 29 percent of deaths in Canada.  It accounted for 28 percent of the reason men die, and 29.7 percent of the reason women die.  http://www.heartandstroke.com/site/c.ikIQLcMWJtE/b.3483991/k.34A8/Statistics.htm#heartdisease

15/58 - Hey - I love uncovering bias and corruption in articles and studies. Why do you think I'm writing this?

16/58 - I tried growing a mustache and beard for Movember, but I couldn't.  Maybe when I'm old and going through menopause, I'll be denied hormone treatment, and will be able to participate like the guys.    In all seriousness, this is a damaging statement, that is, if it's geared towards the more recent debate about whether or not company drug plans should include birth control for women.   A quick search will show that there are many reasons besides contraception that women use birth control. Obviously this is something some women need that men do not.  But I'd like to switch focus to the "lifestyle" statement.   Men make poor life-style choices too, and subsequently they lead to a myriad of health problems for men.  For example:

Men smoke more than women http://www.who.int/gender/documents/10facts_gender_tobacco_en.pdf

Men have shittier diets http://www.eatingwell.com/nutrition_health/nutrition_news_information/his_hers_eating

Adult males are more likely to abuse alcoholhttp://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohol-health/overview-alcohol-consumption/alcohol-facts-and-statistics

17/58 - It's not that there is demographically more of us - a higher percentage of us vote. http://www.upworthy.com/who-votes-more-women-or-men I think this is a positive change because a) we weren't always allowed to vote.  b) historically, we voted for whatever our husbands did.

18/58 - We smoke less, and eat healthier... access to prescription drugs has nothing to do with that.  If you want a mammogram or pap smear - ask your doctor.  Yes, we consume more, as we are a main and growing target for marketers of many industries, including those previously marketed to men, like the NFL and car manufacturers.  This started back when the first department stores were developing.  Some geniuses recognized that women were an untapped market.  The majority of women did not work outside of the home, and were subsequently bored.  When offered a chance to get out of the house, we jumped on it.  I'll get into the tax contribution thing later on.

19/58 - I don't agree that men as a gender should be held more accountable for financial provisions in family structures.  The country doesn't think so either, which is why dual-income families are on the rise, while single income families are on the decrease.  In Canada, the amount of men in the workforce is decreasing, while the amount of women in the workforce is increasing.  It's not equal, and male tax contributions are still higher than women, but it is starting to even out.   http://www4.hrsdc.gc.ca/.3ndic.1t.4r@-eng.jsp?iid=37One of the main goals in most feminist groups is the equal opportunity to work and wage equality.   Let us contribute our fair share - it's one of the main things we want to do as feminists.

20/58 - How about you let the fathers and husbands decide if providing for their families is a good reason to take care of their health. Let them set their own priorities.

21/58 - I, and most other logical people, blame the privatization of the prison system for this alarming statistic.  1 out of 6 of the worlds inmates are in American prisons.  That's fucked up!   I know this specific statement does not imply that women have caused this, but many others in this article do.  I'd like to point out that men dominate in many industries that affect the justice system.  There are more male police officers, more male lawyers, judges, prison owners, politicians, prison guards, etc. Meanwhile, women dominate the social work field, and play a higher role in providing rehabilitation, and crime prevention programs.

22/58 - Domestic Violence is a term used to describe all forms of violence between family structures.  This includes forms of violence between couples, between siblings, parents against children, and children against parents.  There is a difference between genders that vary depending on the form of violence.  Females are more likely to be injured in all forms, and the victim in most forms, although in some forms of violence are more likely to be the aggresser. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epidemiology_of_domestic_violence

23/58 - I am very glad that more than 300 innocent men have been exonerated of these crimes. I love the Innocence Project! I've followed many cases where they helped innocent people escape death row, and life sentences.  In some cases they help victims of wrongful conviction (which includes the loved ones of the prisoners), sue and bring criminal charges onto those responsible for the wrongful conviction, if and when it was intentional (purposely false witness statements, racist cops, etc).  They use the law that first convicted these men get their freedom back. I realise these people are just the lucky ones, and undoubtedly there are still people in prison who simply do not belong there.
However, I argue this statement because it paints an inaccurate picture, stating facts that cannot be proven.  The number of false allegations by women against men is difficult enough to pin down, but we can't begin to count how many fathers were denied certain freedom because of it.   All we have are the cases still up for debate, and the successful exonerations to go by.   If you subtract that from the conviction statistics you will not find some dominant feminist over taking of the government.  You'll find a horrible but all too common reality where women suffer immensely.
24/58 - Child pornography, a 13 billion dollar industry, which is one of the fastest growing online businesses. (http://www.enough.org/inside.php?tag=stat%20archives#6)  The victims of child pornography are most often victims of sex trafficing, for which females make up 98 percent. (http://www.equalitynow.org/node/1010 )  It's no coincedence most documented cases of pedophilia are in men. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophilia)The resources to stop this are few and far between. We're talking about a world wide fight, combatting legal systems of countries with laxed, often anti-women, laws which enable and sometimes promote these atrocities (child marriage).  Not to mention how hard it is to track and prevent a product that's almost entirely distributed and consumed online, and hold those people accountable.

25/58 - When 40 percent of child support goes unpaid - I believe it.

26/58 - Entire concept? As in there is no such thing as a shitty Dad?  I'll side with this rope of words here for a second.  Of course when a man intends to take care of his child, but "can't", there is going to be interference. I like how there was little mention on how many just "don't", or "won't".

27/58 - Great read.

28/56 - I don't, Thanks Mr. Jefferson.

29/58 - I hope the male victims of this crime are properly compensated for their financial losses.

30/58 - If all of those things happened to me (some of which are more likely to happen to me because I'm a women) I think my "direct response" might  be to kill myself too.

31/58 - You can't just determine things that are undeterminable.  If nobody knows why the guy killed himself, you can't just assume. Fuck.

32/58 - Nice! Judgement calls on whether 300,000 suicides were "the best if not only choice" for those people.

33/58 - "K this is just flat out bullshit." - Me, female failed suicide attempter.

34/58 - I'm sorry, I don't understand this statement.

35/58 - Please do tell me how males are oppressed "far worse" in the following World Wide problems:Human trafficking
Sexual Abuse
Employment and Education Opportunities
Child Marriage
Infanticide
Violence Against Prostitutes
Pregnancy from rape
Access to Birth Control.
Human rights and freedoms, and the amount of time women have had them compared to men.(I have a few more when you're done)

36/58 - What you do with your stick is your business.

37/58 - Before birth control changed women's roles in western society, most of us did not persuit education, and even earlier were not permitted at all.   Also, see 3/58.

38/58 - Well that escalated quickly.   Not only does this guy bastardise women for not contributing financially at the same level as men, he also doesn't approve of the studies both men and women pursuit, chalking them up to "bullshit".   I'm not stooping down far enough to touch the rest of this statement.

39/58 - This one leaves a lot to be implied.  Maybe he thinks we should all draw fruit for a living?

40/58 - I agree. They have a name and drug for every behavior besides the one they think is favourable.  I don't agree that only mothers and governments promote the use of these, sometimes damaging, products.   In most cases where both parents are present in their children's day to day lives, they share in the decision making, especially surrounding their child's health care.  I believe parents are scared into believing a) there's something wrong with their child,  b) that this is a social disability - meaning that it interferes or will interfere negatively in the childs life and/or development c) the only way to treat it is the way the "experts" suggest.  I do not believe it's right all of the time.

41/58 - Nobody teaches that being a boy is an illness. Although throughout history, and in even in some parts of the world, teach that being a women comes with inherent illnesses.  Some cultures still believe menstrual blood is either cursed, or an illness, and women are isolated and abused because of it.  Some people do teach that males are more prone to violence, some real social disorders, and mental illness.  Even this article states that males are far more likely to commit suicide than women.

42/58 - Ok, men don't live as long as women - on average.  They also pay more in child support and taxes (while single).  But how does that prevent men from gaining government aid, or participating in government programs?

43/58 - Approximately? More like no where close.  67 percent of SINGLE homeless adults are male.  Single homeless adults make up 76 percent of homeless populations.  Homeless people with children are 35 percent male, 65 percent female.    They make up the majority of homeless people, but it's not 95 percent of them.  Also, studies also show the most impoverish of the two genders is women. (http://poverty.ucdavis.edu/faq/how-does-gender-relate-poverty-status) (http://kff.org/other/state-indicator/adult-poverty-rate-by-gender/).  Single mother households are also higher risk of poverty than families with both parents present.  30 % of single mother households live in poverty. (http://www.irp.wisc.edu/faqs/faq3.htm)

44/58 - Feminists are trying to close the gap between both pay and job opportunities.  If more women were accepted into male dominant fields, our financial contributions would begin to equalize.   As a woman in a very male dominant field (and highest earner in my house btw), I have encountered a series of obstacles cause by nothing more than the ideology of a few men.

45/58 -  I went to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and searched "resource consumption gender" yet couldn't find anything that showed that females consume 85 percent of "resources" - aka everything.  I did find a bunch of articles about what people were spending their money on though, and to my surprise most of it are things both men and women consume - like food, healthcare, housing, and transportation.    Or are the resources were talking about government aid?  I can understand that women make up the majority of that consumption, as they are more likely to be impoverished, most likely to be the single parent in single parent house holds.   Yes there are more male soldiers than female, and I don't agree with how the government lacks in providing financial and social aid to veterans in need.  I don't always agree with the wars, but I agree that if you serve your country, your country should serve you.   I don't like how Darryl used this as a reason to demonstrate the inequality between male and female resource consumption.  It's like if I were to say - women have to endure pregnancy and childbirth, so men deserve less job opportunities.

46/58 - I'm guessing his source on this one was Former Governor Jesse Ventura?

47/58 - Men have never lived as long, and have always been convicted of more crime. The justice system use to be a lot less just.  These things are not new since the noted feminist movements.    There is no anti-man agenda! We don't have time, we're too busy trying to get guys to stop raping us.

48/58 - I just want to note that while researching the validity to these statements, I noticed that both Darryl and I have used some of the same sources.  Not only have I used the ones he has mentioned (when able), but I've repeatedly seen comments he's made on a large amount of websites - all promoting feminist, mother, and women hate.  Most of it is simply all the same - just this list I'm responding to has been posted on multiple websites by Darryl Jewett.  I found this more when searching quotes that he has used.  He implies that they were written in response or inspiration of similar causes and ideologies that Jewett has. But so far I have not been able to find the connections.... and sometimes even proof that those people said those things.  I don't know who the fuck Thomas Payne is.... all I can find are quotes from Thomas Paine.   I like this one best:

"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself."

49/58 - There's extremists in every group.  Apparently, including anti-feminists.

50/58 - What evidence?  Where's the proof that all of this is the planned work of feminism?

51/58 - Is this a warning or something?   Don't enslave me, because I won't work as hard?   God forbid Darryl's fruit paintings suck.

52/58 - If your rights are being violated, I suggest you take counsel and pursuit justice and compensation.   Don't fucking bring us down with you.  Most laws made to better the lives of women exclusively, have done no harm to the male demographic - accept maybe hold them responsible for horrific behavior (including slavery) made against them by men.

53/58 - Plato was right.   But he didn't go around saying that women are the predominant offenders.  He did also say the following:

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
"If women are expected to do the same work as men, we must teach them the same things."
"Never discourage anyone... who continually makes progress, no matter how slow."
"When there is an income tax, the just man will pay more and the unjust less on the same amount of income."

54/58 - Genesis 3:16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

55/58 - What dynamics?

56/58 - Feminism is a form of revolution.

57/58 - *facepalm*

58/58 - I provided links.  All facts that I have not sourced are easy to research on google.   I did it, and I'm a woman!
