It's no surprise to anyone that Hank Azaria felt uncomfortable voicing the controversial part of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, the beloved Kwik-E-Mart owner on a little show called The Simpsons. The mere existence of the character danced on the line of acceptable and often times crossed it. Lets get real, Apu is a South East Asian convenient store owner with an over-the-top stereotypical accent being voiced by Azaria, a white jew.

Azaria says, "Once I realized that that was the way this character was thought of I just didn't want to participate anymore..It just didn't feel right." He goes on to say, "I have tremendous pride on doing the show. And the character of Apu was done with love and pride and the best of intentions. My message is, things can done with really good intentions and have negative consequences."

The jury is still out on the fate of Apu but worry not because our buddy Hank will be sticking around because he is also the voice of: Moe, Chief Wiggum, Disco Stu, Snake Jailbird, Superintendent Chalmers, Duffman and Comic Book Guy to name a few.
