Why Games FPS Drop? Learn How to Increase It

Here are given simple instructions with the help of which you can increase games FPS and enjoy playing PC games without lagging:

Decrease Screen Resolution

Low FPS problem is experienced due to higher screen resolution. Decrease screen resolution to solve the problem up to certain extent.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:


1. Click the Start button, select Control Panel.
2. Click Appearance and Personalization | Adjust Screen Resolution.
3. Use the drop down box to select a lower resolution.
4. Click Apply. Click Keep button, in case you do not experience any display problems. If you're not comfortable with the new resolution, click Revert button.



For Windows 8:


1. Press the Windows Key.
2. Type "Adjust Screen Resolution" in the Search Box.
3. Click the Settings icon.
4. Open it from the Search Results.
5. Follow Steps 3-4 given in above paragraph for earlier versions.


Change Process Priority to High


Change process priority to high. It'll increase FPS.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
2. Click Task Manager.
3. Click the Processes tab.
4. Right click the game. Select Set Priority | High.


For Windows 8:


1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, click Task Manager in the new screen.
2. Click the Details tab.
3. Right click affected process, select Set Priority | High.


Increase Virtual Memory


Virtual Memory is the amount of hard disk used to process data when the actual RAM has insufficient memory. Increase the virtual memory to fix if gaming FPS drops in your PC.

For Windows 8 and Earlier Versions:


1. Right click My Computer desktop icon.
2. Select Properties.
3. Click Advanced System Settings link and then Advanced tab.
4. Click Settings (Under Performance) and then Advanced tab again.
5. Click Change (Virtual Memory).
6. Uncheck "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" checkbox.
7. Select the drive where your game is installed. For example: drive C:\
8. Select "Custom Size" option. Type an amount larger than the existing one. (The existing size is displayed in "Currently Allocated" label at the bottom.)
9. Click Set and then OK thrice.
10. A system reboot is mandatory.
