These giant guns were used in the 1800's for hunting flocks of birds. They were often mounted on small boats and firing it would push the boat back many feet. You could load a pound of lead shot into a punt gun and get dozens of birds with one blast. Today a punt gun is very rare and worth many thousands of dollars to a collector.
