5-year-old daughter just standing at the end of the bed. Hair over face, Ring-style. Definitely didn’t fall back asleep after that.

The girl I was sleeping with at the time, sitting bolt upright and shrieking at the top of her lungs as if someone were twisting off her toes with a pipe wrench….then telling me she was fine, and going right the fuck back to sleep as if nothing had happened.

I had a cat flap in my door so our guys could come and go as they pleased. One night a neighborhood cat apparently came inside. I awoke to a full-tilt catfight ON MY BED at 3:00 in the morning.

My girlfriend and I got in a fight. I went to bed then woke up about 3 am to find her standing over me just staring. She said she couldn’t decide what to do. Yep, she became my ex-girlfriend. I still don’t know what the hell she meant.

My 3-year-old was potty training and didn’t like using his bathroom. So one morning at 3 am this terrifying child stealthily walked into our room, to my side of the bed, and whisper “dada, I have to go peepee”. And I nearly reflex-punched him.

Woke up to a noise in the house. I go investigate and the attic is open. 0% chance it was open before. I close the attic, search the house with the only weapon I had at the time, a samurai sword. Then came time to check the attic. I left the sword with my wife and ascended the stairs unarmed. Found nothing. To this day I still have zero explanation for what happened. The spring to the attic stairs was confirmed strong and would close itself.

I woke up because my girlfriend called out “babe” which is usually what she says. I then said “what”… She goes “I didn’t say anything”. She started texting and was too scared to say it out loud but she wrote… “I heard someone call out “Babe”.

Some sort of sock-puppet-looking gremlin when I was maybe four. Thought it was my older brother in the bottom bunk pranking me. Looked down and he was out. Looked back and it snarled at me. I ran to the kitchen and puked. Thirty years later, I’m still not sure whether I was awake or asleep, but it’s burned into my brain and it still creeps me out.

Woke up around 3 AM in my downtown studio apartment. Pitch black, dead silent. Suddenly, I hear the faucet slowly turn on. Creaking, slowly at first, then full blast. My faucet turned from off to full blast in the middle of the night. Got my happy ass up and turned it off, then went back to sleep. Fuck a ghost.

Woke up to about 10 hornets flying around my room once.

My fiancé was having a dream and out of nowhere screamed, “Get the fuck out!”. I’ve never jumped out of bed ready to fight someone so quickly.

Realizing my apt had been burglarized, with my sleeping child in the other room.

Woke up to a helicopter shooting rockets just outside of our barracks.

My kid staring at me from the loft stairs in my bedroom. Just standing there, staring.

Christmas of 2018, I had a hallucination that a hedgehog and her 3 babies had crawled into my bed. Ever since I randomly have these with various animals and I end up jumping out of bed. My wife thinks it’s hilarious but it scares the shit out of me every time.

the smoke detector going off because the batteries were low. I woke up screaming like it was 1942 and the Nazis were raiding the place!

My kid sleepwalking and just as he was about to step off the landing to go downstairs my husband (at the time) caught him. Probably saved his life.

Big, tall shadowy figure about 7ft. It was standing at the foot of my roommate’s bed but was looking at me. After a bit of a stare-down, with me freaking out the whole time, it slowly backed out of the room and disappeared.

I lived in this older house when I was probably 29 and I use to hear noises and never thought anything of it and then one night I got woken up by my tv at full volume and all the drawers in my dresser were pulled as far out without falling out. Went to bed and the next morning I went out into the kitchen and all the cupboards were open and the water running!! Moved out 2 weeks later.

I awoke in the middle of the night and found a woman in Victorian clothes walking up the stairs. I pulled the blanket over my head thinking I was dreaming. The bottom corner of the bed lifted and I told myself if the other side lifts, I’m out. Sure enough, it lifted and I bolted. My mother told me she had a similar experience when she was younger.
