Americans drive everywhere. They like cars, especially big cars. They only walk in their neighborhoods. -

They prefer living in the suburbs. Downtown is for working, going shopping and restaurants. -

Russians don't wear shoes in the house, while Americans are able to sleep on the couch wearing shoes. Americans don't care if kids sit and eat on the floor in front of the TV. -

Americans like casual wear. You are more likely to see a man in pajamas than suit if he does not need to wear one. -

They like to smile and say "How are you?", but they don't really care how you are. -

They like to buy sandwiches for lunch, restaurants are a place to eat for Americans. Russians are going to restaurants to meet with friends, they seldom go only to eat. -

Americans love Drive Throughs, they buy food and coffee sitting in their car; they also drink and eat in cars. -

They think pizza, spaghetti and barbecue are American foods. Pizza and spaghetti are Italian and barbecue is probably Haitian. -

They put ice in EVERYTHING. Ice dispensers are highly popular in the US. -

AC is also a very common thing. Cars, houses, schools, offices all have AC, and not only in colder states, but in all of America. AC bills are a big part of their monthly payments. -

Russians like to sit around the table in a room, talk and eat for hours. Americans have such table outside, and they don't sit still but walk around talking to people; they also don't drink strong alcohol, they drink weak beer from plastic cups. -

When you come to a party or a dinner you should bring some food or alcohol. It is similar in Russia, but when the food we brought isn't eaten we leave it, and Americans give it back to you in a "doggy bag". -

Americans don't appreciate saunas. In US sauna is a place in gyms or spas where you loose weight; in Russia sitting in saunas is a popular past time and they're popular meeting places. -
14.
Stray dogs are a big problem in Russia, there was a scandal concerning dogs during the Olympics. I rarely seen any stray dogs in America. -
15.
Americans usually don't pick up calls from unknown numbers, and they won't call back, you have to leave a message for them to know why are you calling and then they will maybe call you back. -
16.
In USA people use mostly credit cards and checks, they will take a check in places that won't accept credit cards; in Russia we mostly use paper money. -
17.
Americans are abiding laws and instructions. For example, if it says: "No dogs allowed" the dogs must stay outside; in Russia people laugh at signs like "Don't smoke", "Don't litter", etc. -
18.
We celebrate New Years with a huge party with lots of drinking. Americans celebrate Christmas more than New Years Eve, they fly from around the country and celebrate for a couple of days.
