This is going to piss off the sigma males. Christian Bale sat down with GQ and talked about how he found his inspiration for his iconic portrayal of Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho.' He says that years ago when people still worked the trading floors of Wall Street, he visited one day to observe the men working the stock exchange. Only he found that instead of being loathed by the stock traders, they idolized Patrick Bateman.

It was at this point that he realized the story was a satire and that at its core it was a comedy. Which is where we get his incredible characterization from.
