As we approach a new year, new predictions for what is going to come are being talked about, and some can't talk about the future without a little doom and gloom. The king of doomsday was a 16th-century astrologer and plague doctor named Nostrodamus who surprisingly predicted events far beyond his death like the Great London Fire of 1666, Hitler's rise to power, and even the 9/11 attack on the twin towers. So let's take a look at what the prophet of doom predicts for the new year of 2023.

Global warming and the mass extinction of the sea's fish could be on the horizon. In a passage from one of his writings, Nos says, "Like the sun the head shall sear the shining sea: The Black Sea’s living fish shall all but boil." Researchers have suggested that the rise in the global temperature could come to the death of billions of fish that people eat worldwide.

Buckingham palace will be struck by a meteor in 2023. The prophetic astrologer wrote, "Celestial fire on the royal edifice," which may translate to the royal house may burn down due to a fireball from space crashing into it. However, with Megan Markle and Prince Harry releasing an all-telling documentary on Netflix about how the crown has wronged them, this could be a more metaphorical take on the royal family burning to pieces due to gossip and revelation.

Nostrodamus may have also predicted World War III by writing, "Seven months great war, people dead through evil." This prediction could be applied to Vladamir Putin and his attack on Ukraine, pulling the world near another war of power. People have already been worried about this one and it could be closer than we think.

The great doomsday prophet believed that in 2023 the Antichrist will reveal himself saying, "The antichrist very soon annihilates the three. Twenty-seven years his war will last. The unbelievers are dead, captive, exiled. With blood, human bodies, water and red hail covering the earth." This prediction could be a number of people including any politician or leader of a powerful country. But some people think that Elon Musk's recent Halloween costume may point to the Twitter CEO taking the mantel of Baphomet, ushering us into the end times.
